White coral MONTIPORA SP, brass base
CO934
Montipora is a genus of coral from the Acroporidae family, known for its varied forms, ranging from flat plates to encrusting or branching structures. This particular coral has a flower-like morphology, characteristic of certain Montipora species, with thin and delicate “petals” that unfold in radial columns. It has grown in the coral reefs of the Pacific, where relatively calm waters promote its development, especially in sheltered areas away from strong waves. The bright pink coloration along the edges is due to the presence of fluorescent pigments that capture ultraviolet light. Like many coral species, this Montipora is protected under the CITES convention, and it comes with its CITES certificate.
