Humboldt Penguin taxidermy
PU796
This bird attracts sympathy with its stilted walk on earth, but under water he is an ace of aerobatics. This does not prevent it from being chased by orcs or leopard seals (who can eat up to 15 of them a day!). But the biggest threat is climate change and "El Nino" which moves fish away from the coast of Peru and Chile where it lives, preventing penguins from feeding their young. This Spheniscus humboldti was born in a German zoo in 2007, before becoming Italian in 2009. He died in a zoo near Venice at the age of 11. Its funny wings covered with small feathers that look a bit like hair, do not allow it to fly, but to swim... It is perfect.
