White Coral (HALOMITRA PILEUS) – Assumed damage
CO962
Halomitra Pileus, also known as the Neptune’s cap, lives in free colonies, unattached to the seabed. These circular formations, sometimes bell-shaped, spread across vast areas of the Indo-Pacific, reaching as far as South Africa. Their brown hue is accented with pink or violet tones, which become particularly vibrant at night when the larger individuals extend their polyps to feed.

But the transport to France was fatal. We decided to magnify this coral as it happened to us. A deliberately revealed repair, inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi. Rather than erasing the traces of breaking, they are accentuated as a stage in its evolution transforming them into a unique element of beauty.
