Pink amethyst geode - Patagonia
PUMI2647-1
his geode is called pink amethyst. It is quartz crystals, like amethyst, but the color is quite different. It comes from the Colli curà mine in Patagonia -Argentina. Its geode formation is the result of gas bubbles trapped in basaltic lava flows, where minerals slowly crystallize over millions of years.
The rare pink colour of this amethyst is due to hematite (iron oxide) inclusions, creating a delicate shade that contrasts with the usual violet of the amethyst. Mounted on a brass base, this display highlights the glittering interior of the geode.
