Tail of Ray with question mark shape, Large size.
AN437
A curiosity? This giant question mark, or the tip of the Pope cross... is in fact the tail of a Ray from Madagascar on a wooden base. Rays have a distinct, serrated sting on their tail: the stinger. The stinger is related to venom glands, but the Ray only use it as self defense. There is 220 different species of Stingrays in the world, and like sharks, their skeleton is made of cartilaginous. This is the Reticulate whipray -Himantura uarnak- whose tail can sometimes reach 3 times its size. That's the tall one.
