Polished Rove goat horn, brass base
PU1259-1
The Rove goat is a rustic breed from southern France, native to the dry hills around Marseille. Adapted over centuries to the rocky Mediterranean landscapes, it is known for its long, spiralling lyre-shaped horns, which can span over a meter in mature males.
Its name comes from the village of Le Rove, but its ancestors are thought to trace back to goats from the Middle East, related to the MARKHOR, the majestic wild goat of Pakistan with twisted horns.
This natural curiosity has been carefully polished to reveal the horn’s natural shades, then mounted on a simple brass base, in the spirit of a contemporary cabinet of curiosities.
A striking decorative object, both organic and timeless.
