1862 brown leather missal
PUL154
Behind this large brown leather book, there is necessarily a story. This missal is obviously in Latin, since in France as in many Catholic countries the Mass was in Latin until the Second Vatican Council (applied in 1965 in France). This book with a worn leather cover was therefore the priest’s book, with all the texts and songs used throughout the year to "say Mass". The musical scores are in Gregorian (4 lines instead of 5). All days of the year are classified as "4th Sunday before Easter", "Sunday 8 days before the Epiphany"...
