Red coral TUBIPORA MUSICA
CO528-20
TUBIPORA MUSICA is a colonial coral found in the shallow lagoons of the Indo-Pacific region. Each red tube corresponds to the calcareous skeleton of a polyp. When alive, the structure is completely covered by a layer of tiny white polyps, so the deep red colour of the skeleton is only visible once the living tissue is gone — which makes it all the more remarkable in its natural state.
This specimen shows a vertical growth pattern, and is mounted on a discreet black base.
As this species is CITES-regulated, the coral will be supplied with its CITES permit number.
