Fossil fern In cage : PECOPTERIS POLYMORPHA
PUFO465-5
This fossil PECOPTERIS POLYMORPHA, dating back to the Carboniferous about 300 million years ago, was discovered in the mines of Montceau-les-Mines, in France. These mines, formerly dedicated to coal mining, have preserved exceptional remains of ancient flora due to favorable geological conditions. PECOPTERIS POLYMORPHA belongs to a genus of ferns characteristic of this era: tree ferns. Species that grew in swampy environments. The very contemporary display of this cage of black steel contrasts with the 300 million years old vegetation.
