Megalodon Tooth (USA)
PUFO442-6
All that remains of this giant of the seas are its teeth. But what teeth! This fossil, discovered in South Carolina, dates from between 25 and 2.5 million years ago.
It belonged to Otodus megalodon, a colossal shark that could reach up to 16 meters in length. Like all sharks, its skeleton was made entirely of cartilage — a material that doesn’t fossilize — leaving only the teeth as traces of its existence.
Their edge, still sharp today, is a reminder that nature can be just as formidable as any fiction.
