PUMI2614

This pistachio-green mineral is rarely seen. The only mine operated in the world is in New Zealand. This Nontrolite, comes from the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, and its mossy appearance, evokes a petrified vegetation. This unique green is due to the presence of iron in its crystalline structure, formed over millions of years especially in hydrothermal submarine vents. This type of clay, formed by precipitation of iron and silicone.
In the centre, white quartz crystals contrast with the light and irregular texture of nontrolite. These crystals are formed when silica-rich solutions later infiltrate the rock’s cracks and cavities, adding a luminous dimension to the whole.
Displayed in a black metal cage, this piece combines the astonishing complexity of Brazilian geology with contemporary enhancement.
