Half agate geode (Brazil)
PUMI2709-2
This half Brazilian agate geode originates from a volcanic flow and shows a distinctive three-layer structure, each corresponding to a different stage of mineral formation:
– On the outer rim, a compact agate zone with brown-violet tones, formed by successive silica deposits.
– Towards the centre, a ring of well-formed quartz crystals radiating towards the interior.
– At the very heart of the piece, a cotton-like white zone, composed of micro-crystals still in formation — an intermediate stage between solid structure and empty cavity.
This cloudy nucleus is highly sought-after, as it reflects an unfinished crystallisation process rarely seen in polished geodes.
Displayed on a brass base, this geological curiosity showcases the complexity of natural mineral growth and fits naturally into the world of the cabinet of curiosities.
