This malachite slice comes from the Congo, from Katanga province. It has been polished to reveal the multitude of shades of green it contains. This natural circle comes from a stalagmite formed in a cavity, below a ceiling loaded with copper ores. Since ancient times, Malachite has been used as a pigment in the paint for its light and bright blue-green tones, especially in the painting of icons.
