Large Twin milky quartz – Brazil
PUMI2718
This group of white quartz crystals comes from Brazil. The crystals formed side by side by sharing the same crystalline base. This phenomenon, common in quartz, reflects a stable chemical and thermal balance over a very long period.
The growth of this type of twin crystal extends over several thousand years, at the slow pace of the deposition of dissolved silica in rock cavities. The slightly milky white tint comes from exposure for thousands of years to natural radioactivity contained in nearby metamorphic rocks (in the Earth’s crust). This effect diffuses the light inside the stone and softens its natural shine.
