Aragonite crusted pipe from Karlovy Vary
PUMI2649-1
In Czech republic, in the city of Karlovy Vary, famous for its thermal baths loaded with minerals, we discovered these pipes used to bring water to the baths, partially blocked. These hot springs, by chance, are not loaded withthe usual limestone, but with the lovely Aragonite. After a fine cut and a polishing, we can appreciate the Aragonite which was deposited there. The differences of colors as for a tree are due to the variation of the composition of the water over the seasons. This mineral layers formed in hardly 40 years.
Mineral but cultural... This slice comes from one of the main pipes coming to the "Colonnade spa". We used a smaller one for the reference MI149.
