Opal sphere (Madagascar)
PUMI2698
Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony rich in iron oxide, ranging in colour from translucent orange to deep red. Madagascar, especially the Ambatondrazaka and Ihosy regions, is known for producing highly homogeneous material with a warm, almost glowing tone.
This 0.75 kg sphere, carved from a natural nodule and fully polished, reveals delicate orange variations typical of ferruginous silica.
Set on a discreet black base, it gives full prominence to the stone’s natural colour and texture.
Sometimes geometry alone is enough to let the material speak.
