7 shells Xenophora under glass
AN227
Display of 7 different species of Xenophora sea-shells: the carrier shells. These marine snails have something unique: they collect shells, rocks... in their environment. They attach these objects to their shells at intervals during shell's growth. The Xenophora corrugata from Mozambic add some stones, the Xenophora Pallidula from the Philipines collect smaller shells, other some black volcano rocks... They often live as deep as 50 meters. A true marine-curiosity!
