Giant shell Murex on brass base
AN335
This very large specimen of Chicoreus ramosus, common name the branched murex, is a species of predatory sea snail. This beautifull seashell from polynesia can be seen in all the Indo-West Pacific area. As a carnivorous, it feeds on other shells. It's leaf-like, recurved hollow digitations are very specific of the Murex family, but this one is close from the record size!
