Black sea urchin in metal circle
AN406
This very large sea urchin comes from the east coast of the Pacific Ocean. Astropyga pulvinata. Its radioles (spines) are lighter, thinner and hollow. The longer ones are used to move, but the shorter ones are venomous and are used to defend themselves. It is found between 15 and 50 meters deep, especially around Panama. In this wrought iron circle, it slightly dominates a sea urchin with an elegant design coming from the Philippines: AN407.
