Polished Syrinx aruanus shell
PU844-5
It is the biggest "snail" on earth, more exactly under water! This huge marine gastropod (up to 18Kg) has a completely yellow body. And this specimen is one of the largest: the shell of a Syrinx Aruanus from Australia, the largest mono-valve in the world. This spiral is indeed the natural shell of this shell displayed "head up", simply rid of its "skin" of fluffy protection -periostracum- which covers this huge shell under water.
