Land snail Hemiplecta Wichmanni white
AN473
this lansnail lives in indonesia, especially in the Center of Sulawesi. Its shell is white because the Periostracum has been removed: The periostracum is a thin organic coating or "skin" which is the outermost layer of the shell. And indeed this land snail is normally dark green. But this thin layer disappears quickly when the animal dies . The periostracum purpose is to protect the limestone shell from acidic soil aggressions.
