            This Septaria heart that can be opened was of course carved to accentuate its natural shape. Initially: a nodule of Septaria from Madagascar. Septarias are marine nodules formed millions of years ago from organic matter, such as plants or animals, that washed up on muddy sea floors. This complex process, beginning with bacterial colonization, triggers a series of geological transformations. These changes, accompanied by tectonic movements and temperature variations, create cracks in which minerals, like calcite, crystallize, forming the elegant marbling found in these stones.
