Mako skull under glass M
PU423-4
This Mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) is perfectly adapted to its way of feeding: blue on the back to be invisible seen from the top, and white under, to have the color of the sky seen from the deep. And it is very fast (at least 45km hour), and so it can flip above the sea : 9 meters high have been witnessed (30 feet!) . As many sharks, this species is nowaday over-fished for the fin (famous soup...) and flesh, especially in Asia. This complete skull, carefully cleaned, is a by-product of the fishery. It has not been catched for the skull. Impressive with agressive teeth, but completely safe: he's under glass! Protected species since 11/2023.
