Complete Mako skull on square oak stand
PU426-3
A Mako shark complete skull on oak base. Amongst sharks the Mako is not the rarest species, but its shape is very typical of the image of shark mouth we all have in mind... Sharks are still over-fished for their fin. For years fishermen only kept the jaws, but this new preparation shows much more the animal shape. And this skull comes from a shark that has been catched for the fin in Plilippines islands. It was close to the maximum size for this species (3 meters long). This piece shows the beginning of the spine, in cartilage, like the whole skeleton of sharks. Protected species since 11/2023.
