common Eland trophy - Taurotragus oryx
PU512
A vintage trophy of a very large african antelope: Taurotragus oryx. The male can reach 940Kg! It is the second largest antelope of Africa (the largest one is their relative Taurotragus derbianu) . These twisted horns belonged to a large common Eland, an animal that can be found in southern Africa, as far as Cape town! It is a male, with horns wider and shorter than the long, tapered horns of the female.
