The gray Crazy Lace agate is a variety of agate that takes its name from its unique and complex pattern, which looks like a crazy lace. Agate is a form of microcrystalline quartz that forms in the cavities of volcanic rocks. It is composed of thin concentric layers of minerals that are deposited in the rig infiltrations in these volcanic soils. But sometimes between two layers of chalcedony, quartz crystals may have formed. And when the next infiltration enter the cavity, it makes like a coating on the crystals, creating the typical inticate patterns and colors. The region of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico, is famous for its high quality Crazy Lace agates.
