Golden Agate slice 1.4 Kg on brass base
PUMI2258-2
This golden slice comes from Brazil, and comes from a geode. It was formed by successive deposits of silica and ores or oxides dissolved in water and seeping into the soil. When it comes to volcanic soil, as in this case in Brazil, water sometimes reaches a pocket of air that has frozen in the lava when it has cooled. And it forms successive layers over months and years, with lighter or darker lines. The open heart is here bordered by a hyaline quartz geode (rock crystal), which allows the light to cross this slice to reveal the unique patterns, as in pictures 6,7 and 8: splendid.
