Brazilian agate slice (290g.) on a brass base
PUMI2640
The Agates remain minerals apart: basaltic lava filled with gas rising up to the surface of the earth releases gas bubbles that have sometimes remained blocked by the viscosity of the cooling lava. These cavities will receive silica deposits brought by hydrothermal solutions. Each new infiltration will bring different oxides, and therefore different colors: hematite, limonite, manganese, greenish chlorite... This time, very clearly the red hematite has settled first and gave this red circle that frames a heart of crystal hialin remained open.
Mounted on a brass base, this slice takes on a new dimension when illuminated, revealing subtle details and fascinating plays of light.
