Turquoise howlite on black base
PUMI2070-11
This is the stone that gave its name to the color Turquoise. What an unusual color in nature, and that's why the native Indians choosed this mineral as their fetish color. Many belts, jewels are adorned with this blue stone. But its rather rare, and usualy expensive! This stone is in fact, like a majority of nowadays Turquoise jewels, a tinted Howlite. The natural Howlite is mainly white with some black veins, and has a calcium borosilicate hydroxide, it is porous. And so, perfect to take the exact color of turquoise... At a very different price! This piece is from Marmara in Turquey. and it is the 4th starting on the left. Right in front of the vase.
