Natural Sulfur from Bolivia
PUMI1931-3
Native sulfur is an elemental mineral that forms in volcanic zones through the direct sublimation of sulfur-rich gases. This 1Kg specimen comes from the Bolivian desert, extracted from a mine now closed. Its well-formed polyhedral crystals display the vivid yellow hue characteristic of sulfur.
Before it was used to make matches or gunpowder, sulfur was above all a mineral curiosity.
Mounted on a black base, this piece highlights both the purity of its colour and the sharpness of its crystalline forms.
