Taxidermy of REMORA fish on black base
PU715
This strange fish has often been called a "pilot fish". But in reality it does not pilot at all the shark or dolphin or even the whale it seems to precede. It just remain under its protection, and to feed itself by eating the parasites of its host, as well as the remains of the food swallowed by its host. there are several subspecies, more affiliated to a host type: shark, swordfish, whale, and even turtle. They all have in common to let themselves moved, once "sucked" to the biggest animal. Some fishermen in the Indian Ocean attach a rope to the tail of the fish and wait for the Remora to attach itself to a turtle. When they shoot, they also catch the turtle!
