Taxidermy of Colobus Monkey
PU716
This magnificent primate is known as the Mantled Guereza. The white hair which frames its face highlights its natural curiosity. This Colobus Guereza can be found in much of west and eastern Central Africa. They live in groups of between three and 15 individuals under the domination of one male. They eat plants (leaves, buds and seeds) and can even digest cellulose, thanks to their four-chamber stomachs! Their natural predators are certain birds of prey and leopards. But this male has never encountered a leopard because he was born in a zoo in Venice. Maybe this is why he is so attached to this apothecary pot and why he is hiding a magnet in his paw. If you manage to steal it from him, you will see that it is attracted by the Hungarian magnetite under his back paw! He died of natural causes in the same zoo in 2017.
