Nodule of French shale with pyrite (19.57kg)

PUMI1253

This nodule of shale is in fact a Septaria from St Denis d'Orques (North West of France). If we cut it in two, we should discover a nice pattern of shrinkage craks surely filled by other minerals. Like white calcite, or even Pyrite? Golden and shinny like the Pyrite that crystalized over this round stone. But we played it safe and kept it untouched. Because this dark stone with sparkling pyrite does already have a certain drama!
