Grenn and blue quartz of Bahia (1.9kg)
PUMI1345
Azul Macaubas: this rough stone is mined from North East of Brazil, in the area of Bahia. A striped, blue and white quartzite of the Precambrian period, and this blue colour is caused by some Dumortierite: a strong blue mineral. The different layers of blue to milky, and even green in that case, are due to a slow cooling process of the molten rock. This blue quartz is called Azul Macaubas, but the name of Blue Quartz from Bahia is also given to another stone (Azul Boquira), that you can also see on our website: we loved the colors from this part of Brazil! And especially this piece with a blue cap.
