This natural bright mineral comes from Madagascar. It is red Jasper,also called" Blood Jasper", a sedimentary rock which contains more than 90 % of silica, and according to its other components, he can take almost any tints. This block of red Jasper comes from a pocket extremely charged with iron oxide.The Christians of the Middle Ages used this jasper to engrave scenes of crucifixion, hence its name as "stone of martyrs". A specimen of blood jasper even carries the seal of Emperor Rudolph, at the Louvre Museum in Paris.The polishing followed the red vein and gave him this incomparable sweetness.
