Red jasper (4.9kg)

PUMI1371-2

This natural bright mineral comes from Madagascar. It is red Jasper, also called" Blood Jasper", a sedimentary rock which contains more than 90 % of silica, and according to its other components, he can take almost any tints. This block of red Jasper comes from a pocket extremely charged with iron oxide. The Christians of the Middle Ages used this jasper to engrave scenes of crucifixion, hence its name as "stone of martyrs". A specimen of blood jasper even carries the seal of Emperor Rudolph, at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The polishing followed the red vein and gave him this incomparable sweetness. You cannot refrain from caressing it... Terribly attracting.
