Atacamite is an intense green mineral composed of copper oxychloride. It is found in the upper layers of copper mines, especially in arid and dry areas. This one comes from Peru, but its name was given because the first specimen described came from the Atacama Desert, in northern Chile. This specimen has a strong contrast between dark green crystals and a lighter layer. But all green!
