The "angel hair" that can be seen in this beautiful transparent crystal of Madagascar are inclusions of other minerals: the rather golden filaments are crystals of Rutile: a mineral that is a titanium oxide. Strange metal that cannot be welded, not even to itself! While otherwise inclusions often reduce the value of a crystal, rutilated quartz in fact is valued for the quality and beauty of these inclusions. These fine crystals were believed in ancient times to be the hair of Venus, the goddess of love... But Titanium is also good!
