The most renowned banded Fluorite in the world was mined during the 19th century in Derbyshire, England: Blue John. It was mined for its ornamental value, and they managed to carve great bowls and cups, visible in the richest castles of the country. But recently a new find outperformed Blue John with the most colorfull Fluorite ever found: the Rainbow Fluorite! found in Deqing Fluorite Mine in Zhejiang Province -China- This piece has perfect layers of purple, green, transparent... Even in this mine, just a few veins are so perfectly banded.
