Pink chalcedony on brass (3.1kg)

This pink and green mineral was born in a bubble of air frozen in the lava of a volcano. The green basalt (lava) matrix surrounds these nodules of Brazilian Pink Chalcedony. This green pebble was cut in half and then polished which revealed the remarkable interior: The heart is made of crystallized pink nodules interspersed with the beautiful green color of the lava. This mineral is often called pink amethyst. Pink Chalcedony is used by the Maison Cartier to make a «classic» of the house: an orchid necklace produced since 1925. This piece is one of a pair.
