Brazilian amethyst with orange Calcite of 1.2KG
PUMI1876-2
A real Brazilian pastry! These 3 colors are the 3 different minerals that make up this block of Brazilian amethyst: The matrix outside this formation is a magmatic green rock (so volcanic lava): the Basalt. Then there was a crystallization of iron-laden water, which gives these crystals transparent at the base but purple on the tip with the oxidation of iron. The "icing on the cake" is a crystallization of yellow/orange calcite that occurred at last. The piece is not to be eaten, but is diabetically appetizing!
