Of this giant of the seas we know only the teeth. But what teeth! It is particularly large: 13,5cm (from the tip to the base of the root). This fossil discovered in South Carolina in the USA is between 25 and 2.5 million years old. It belonged to a giant shark: the Odontus Megalodon which could measure up to 16 meters long. Like all sharks, its skeleton was made of only cartilage, and the only part we can hold in our hands is the teeth. And, incredible: it’s still sharp.
