French clear quartz from the Alps

The Alps remain a field of research for French, Swiss and Italian crystal-hunters. This block of quartz crystals comes from the Belledonne massif, precisely from the old iron mines of Allevard. The exposure of these crystals to air and water has, over the centuries, formed deposits of Limonite. Curiously the hydrothermal activity that was at the origin of the creation of these crystals still continues in this region: a water at 17 degrees chlorinated, with sodium and calcium is exploited by the spa town of Uriage-les-bains...
