This ball was cut into a vertebra of a marine dinosaur 8 meters long: a Plésiosaure. They lived in Mesozoic (about 80 Million years) in Madagascar. It may sound crazy to carve in a dinosaur, but these are animals whose bones had time to be rolled by the ocean before being fossilized. They no longer show the points (apophyses) which make all the interest of the skeleton, when we manage to re-assemble it entirely.
The surfaces of this now smooth ball are made up of dots which are thus the porous structure of this dinosaur bone: Dinausor's marble!
