femoral head of Sauropode 2.7kg (Madagascar)
PUFO411
This species was described in 2001 by New York and Malagasy paleontologists in the Mahajanga basin. It is a Titanausore, therefore of the family of giants such as the Diplodocus. This one did not exceed 15 meters long: The Rapetosaurus krausei. A nearly complete juvenile skeleton was discovered. But sometimes bones were very scattered or even broken. This impressive bone is the head of the femur, so the hind legs of this giant. It was polished, which is not the presentation required for a museum, but which makes it so much softer and sensual... We can really see the porous matter of the bone on what is now a mineral.
