Anclotea sponge on black base
PU1017
This marine animal from Florida feeds by filtering the water through the cavities of its body, built with a dense network of resistant and elastic fibers: spongin. It meets on coral reefs where it mixes with gorgons and corals between 2 and 50 meters deep. Cleaning shrimps often inhabit its outer crevasses. These organisms are fixed when adults, but first, their larvae let themselves be carried by the currents to facilitate dissemination.
