Dotted crab in wall box

PU1025-2

This doted crab is also called slow crab. In fact it is mostly active at night, and it feeds on corals and sea snails. The Carpilius maculatus can be seen in less than 10 meters of depth in the tropical zone of the Indian Ocean: from French Polynesia to Hawaii. Its flesh is known to be toxic to man, but it seems that some Polynesians eat it from time to time. It rests here in a black wall box.
