15g Agoudal meteorite in flying mechanism (Morocco) -

PUMI2175

This meteorite was discovered in 2000 in Morocco in the region of Agoudal, in the High Atlas. But it is only since 2011 that it has been analyzed and recognized as a Ferrous Meteorite, with a Nickel proportion of 5.5%. It would have fallen to earth 105,000 years ago. And, incredible coincidence, it fell into a large (3 km in diameter) crater formed by a meteorite fall fell between 1.5 and 3.5 million years in the same place! But that first meteorite wasn’t found, and it may not be ferrous. On the other hand, percussion cones (shatter cones) have been found: minerals that have fine streaks that flare down, proof of the impact of a meteorite. A 60Kg piece of the Agoudal ferrous meteorite has been discovered, and so far just over 100Kg circulate between museums and collectors.
