giant Orthoceras fossil proudly restaured
PUFO324-2
This arrow is a true gigantic sea hunter of more than 250 million years old. Dating back to the Paleozoic period (-540 to -250 million years) this creature is nautiloïd sea shell. Like a straight Nautilus.
The long tentacles escaping from this straight shell, must have been very skilful to catch ammonites and prehistoric fishes. However, this fossil is coming from the mines of Erfoud in Morocco, in the middle of the sand dunes. Unfortunately it fell during transport. We decided to work on it, but not to restore it, keeping the scars of the accident... Proudly!!
