Spicky black sea fan

Though it is definitely coming from the sea, this gorgonia looks like a tree. It seems to have been growing in a place with strong movements in the sea. The strong currents forced this animal ( a huge colony of small polyps in fact) to grow slowly , and so to develop a strong and large skeleton to resist the currents. It's a rather rare form coming from Micronesia. The base is made of burnt and hammered copper with application of patinated copper.
