Michigan Specularite on black base
PUMI2363
Specular hematite, sometimes called "specularite" is a highly reflective, "glittery" form that consists of many small flakes of hematite. Micaceus hematite or hematite that forms in thin, stacked sheets resembling mica, is the same thing as specular hematite but is more metamorphosed. Both types can actually classified as hematite schists. It can be found near Champion and Republic (Michigan - US). Even if the surface is covered with a layer of resin, we see on the back (photo 8) that this stone is naturally sparkling! When you bring it to light, you can easily immagine the sky of a summer night.
